Happy New Year! Look out 2026, here we come!
Looking Back at December:
December was another busy month with learning about traditions, performing in concerts and spending time with buddy classes. I would like to recognize the members or our choir who participated in Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra's Nutcracker performance. Congratulations on being chosen and thank you for representing Sechrist so well. Another congratulations to our 2025 Sechrist Spelling Bee Champion, Liliana Poirer. We wish her luck at the Coconino County Spelling Bee in February.
Looking Forward to January:
It will be great to have everyone back and in the swing of things on Monday, January 5th! We will start our Sechrist CARES campaign to help ensure everyone knows our universal behavior expectations. Please see more information on this below. Our new RTI groups will be up and running very soon as well. Sechrist teachers do an amazing job making sure all students are challenged at their level.
More Information:
As we move into this new year and start preparing for students who may want to call Sechrist their school in 2026-2027, please feel free to share with them what you love about Sechrist. Our Kindergarten Open House is planned for Wednesday, February 11th. We hope all perspective families will stop by to learn about what we have to offer. We will also have Book Bingo that night because we are celebrating Love of Reading Week February 9th thru 13th. Please be on the lookout for more specifics as we get closer to February.
If you haven't already started following us on Instragram or Facebook, we would love to share more up-to-date information with you. It is also a great way for our families and friends to see all the wonderful things happening at Sechrist.

November in Review:
Our Band and Choir did an amazing performance of their Veterans Day Concert at The Peaks Senior Living Community as well as for our school. Sechrist's very own preschool teacher, Ms. Gray was nominated for Teacher of the Year! Our kindergarten friends spent time eating pie and learning with their 4th grade buddies. First graders marched through the hallways in the Balloons Over Sechrist Parade showing off characters from recent books they have read. The 2nd grade class concluded their Greek ELA unit with Potato Olympics. Third graders entertained families and fellow students with their Anansi and the Moss Covered Rock musical. Our 4th graders competed in the Battle of the Books finals for this semester and finished their Veterans Day essays. Some of them even got to share at the concert! Finally, the 5th graders collected 167 turkeys and $467 during their snowy turkey drive the week before Thanksgiving Break. We were also grateful to partner with Cub Scout Pack 7033 as they provided sides for families to have a complete Thanksgiving dinner.
