Note from Mrs. Overton:

Our school was bustling on Wednesday evening with so many students and families building, exploring and discovering during STEM Night! Kindergarten Open House and Book Bingo were also a success. Thank you all for helping our school come alive!

We hope you get a chance to participate in Parent Teacher Conferences this week. Many of our students will be leading their own conference and sharing the growth they have made since the beginning of the year!

We would like to hear from you as well. Here is the link to the Family Survey for the 2025-2026 school year. Please complete it by March 20th. Please click this link or the image below if you would like to view Mrs. Overton's slide presentation for the Governing Board from February 10th.

As we approach the 4th quarter of our school year, things actually start to speed up. We have AASA Test Prep Night on Wednesday, March 18th, the Family Dance will be in April and the Trojan Trot on Friday, April 24th. You are always encouraged to be here for any and all of our activities!

We hope you all have a fun and safe Spring Break next week. School will be closed from March 9th-March 13th. We look forward to everyone coming back for the 4th Quarter on Monday, March 16th!

If you haven't already started following us on Instragram or Facebook, we would love to share more up-to-date information with you. It is also a great way for our families and friends to see all the wonderful things happening at Sechrist.

AASA Updates and Reminders

Testing season is upon us. Our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders took a practice test this week that will help us guide any last minute instruction for the AASA and AZSci tests that will be administered towards the end of this month and beginning of April.

Testing Calendar:
March 18 - Test Prep Night 5:15-6:15
March 24 & 25 - AZSci - 5th Grade
March 31 - AASA Writing - 4th & 5th Grade
April 1 - AASA Writing - 3rd Grade
April 8 - AASA ELA & Math Part 1 - 3rd Grade
April 14 & 15 - AASA ELA & Math Part 1 & 2 - 4th & 5th Grade
April 16 - AASA ELA & Math Part 2 - 3rd Grade

If there is any chance you can schedule appointments around these dates, that would be very helpful. That way students can take the assessments with their peers and avoid any make ups. Thank you!

Sechrist "CARES" Update

In February, we talked about what it means to be "respectful in different areas of the school. Our Student Council members have done an excellent job making schoolwide announcements highlighting these character traits.

Our focus for March is being "empathetic"!

Many students have been caught showing these traits throughout the school. They have received CARES Tickets. They place these tickets in the classroom pails and receive a better chance to get chosen to go to the CARES Button Celebration!

Every Day Counts!

Being in class each day helps students stay on track with lessons, build strong friendships and develop life skills for the future.

Parents and families play a big role in supporting consistent attendance, which is one of the most important factors in a child's success in school and beyond.

These are some ways you can help support this at home...

  • Plan vacations and appointments around the school calendar when possible.
  • Report absences directly to the school's attendance office. (928-779-4029)
  • Check your student's attendance anytime in ParentVue.

If your family is facing challenges with attendance, we are also here to help. Please feel free to contact our front office or Ms. Talbot at 928-779-4024 if you would like any attendance support for your family.
